Received the greenhouse quickly. We were worried about putting it together after reading other reviews. I put the frame together by myself in about 4 hours. It then took two of us about 2 - 3 hours to put the panels on and finish the assembly. Only problem is with the bolts, be careful, they are easy to break off when tightening the nuts. That is the only negative we have. Greenhouse is very sturdy and looks great. Highly recommend!!!

The bulbs really helped my plants to stay in good condition when they were brought in for the winter.

3 Stars Good but burns out too fast
I used this product on my wife’s indoor plants and it worked great, the only problem was that I was replacing bulbs every couple of weeks. That can be expensive at $10 a bulb. There is a 1-year warranty but I am not sure how to go about using it.

a nicely built product–easy to assemble.haven’t used this one yet but my brother-in-law has one that he has used for the past 5 years and he is totaly satisfied.

1 Star Too much hype, not enough performance
I read all of the reviews and had mixed feelings about ordering this garden seeder; based on most reviews, the product was a little lacking. I am glad to report that most of the reviews were pretty much on target. This thing doesn’t work well for any of the seeds that I tried: okra, corn, english peas, brussels sprouts and chives. If I had it to do over, I would just continue planting by hand. However, to be fair, I’m going to try and plant my purple hull peas. I plant a lot, so we will see if this thing really works on anything.

5 Stars Earthway Garden Seeder - Timesaving & Back Saver!
We plant a large garden every year, and still home can most of our vegetables. Planting corn and beans, and having to hoe to cover them up is time consuming and back breaking, depending on how much you plant - I planted 4 rows of corn, about 100 yards long each in around 15 minutes - it was great! If you want to seed a little heavier in your corn rows - just run over it twice - Love it!

This product does what it says I have a 3,000 sq ft garden and it made the planting a pleasure. I am looking forward to using the fertilizer for sed dressing the rows. I think I will take another look at the additional disk for seeds. to get a broader selection. This also worked very nice for planting an annual boarder plants in hte flower beds

5 Stars Great Machine made in USA
We really like our seeder and are impressed with the USA made quality like what we used to find in products back in the 50s & 60s before the made in China junk flooded the market. It has a heavy gauge aluminum frame and many of the parts are durable nylon rather than cheap plastic. The wheels roll on steel bushing shafts and all the bolts are respectable grade 5 quality requiring a 1/2″ & 7/16″ wrench for assembly. The 1/4″ drive belt is more than adequate and the 12″ dia cleated drive wheel is big enough not get lost in our soil and prevents skipped seeds in the row. The seed plates are amazingly easy to change, no tools required. The seed depth and row marker are easily adjusted by loosening large wing nuts with your fingers, once again, no tools needed. The handy kick stand keeps the seeder upright so we don’t have to be concerned about seeds spilling out like we would if we had to lay it on its side. I first saw this very machine advertized almost 20 years ago so it has certainly stood the test of time. I have been an organic gardener for 33 years and consider this fella a real back saver and time saver. Well worth twice the price in my mind!

I have not started my herb garden. Item was well packaged, organized and labeled. I do wish it came with info on how to use the herbs, or when to use what herb(s). You do have to prepare the seeds before planting.

Great product. Arrived promptly, every thing was separated into labeled pill box like containers, and by the end of the month all but one of the plants has sprouted. The plants did not come with growing instructions, however they were easy enough to find online.

A good selection of herbs. All seeds germinated. Arrived in a strip of well marked plastic containers. I used only half of each herb and reserved the remainder for replanting as many herbs are annuals.

5 Stars I’ve got 3 plants… and they respond to touch!
I was doubtful these things would grow, but they do! When preparing your plants make sure you water the soil pellets and let them fully expand before breaking them apart to make light, loose soil. Then fill the pot 3/4″, add the germinated seeds, cover with a thin layer of the soil and water again. I watered lightly everyday until I saw shoots (like 3-4 days later). Now I water lightly every other day. They are like 2″ tall now, with a second set of leaves that respond to touch and to daylight. Super cool!

Grew but died about 2 months later.

Still better than my last batch of seeds from a different company that didn’t even live longer than 2 weeks.

I have tried every possible thing to keep them alive but nothing worked.

Giving up on these types of plants as I’ve had better luck with other things like bonsai trees and angel plants..

The grand-daddy of all giant pumpkins. The present day record for this amazing variety is now over 1600 lbs. and produces 400-500 pound fruit consistently with proper growing procedures. The only one to grow for giant pumpkin contests and international competitions. Perfect for huge jack o’lanterns and fall displays. Fruit color vary from yellow to orange. Top quality hand selected seed(non-treated). Fruit is round to flattened round, ribbed, with striking bright orange color. Seed cavity is small. Flesh is meaty, makes great pies!

I don’t think our pumpkins turned out according to the claim of a Giant Pumpkin, but it may not have been the fault of seeds, I think we didn’t provide them enough soil. Very quick delivery and worth a try!

4 Stars Pumpkins Seeds Purchased and Planted - we’ll see in 2008
I purchased these 15 Dills Atlantic Giant Seeds for my 3 yr. old nephew to plant along with his giant sunflowers. We live in OK - growing region 6. 15 seeds arrived promptly and were planted in the correct sign or phase of the moon according to The Farmers Almanac. I’m expecting 15 pumpkin vines to produce at least 15 pumpkins. Hirt’s will hear from me if I’m not satisfied.

I gave them 4 stars for prompt delivery and careful packaging. Hirt’s has a fairly negative customer review at one particular garden website - http://davesgarden.com/products/gwd/c/554/ but those comments tend to be ebay purchases.

I’ll reserve my opinion for “proof is in the pumpkin” till this fall. Hopefully I can report about large orange pumpkins with a 3 year old atop one.

4 Stars Giant Pumpkin Self-Contest
The Hirt’s seeds came really fast - in 4 days - and they were in a bubble-wrap envelope so no broken seeds. This matters since it’s a small quantity. Germination rate is unknown. Another star if it’s high. We are hoping only for a big pumpkins, so we’re not going to great lengths to get a prize-winner. Who counts out 15 seeds, I wonder? One guy we talked to said the Atlantic Giant pumpkin can grow 25 lbs per day! OMG!
